CWS Timor Leste (TL) together with the Ministry of Health, National AIDS Commision (NAC), and I/NGOs in Timor Leste in commemorating the World AIDS Day 2007.
The event was commemorated through a series of activities focused on HIV and AIDS: trivial quiz and drawing competition for junior high school and high school; information session for youth; a workshop and discussion attended by PLWH support group (Esperansa Group), NGOs, minister of health and nuns to facilitate a communication between PLWH and stakeholders; drum band parade; church mass; and television interactive talk discussion.
The discussion with the PLWHs and stakeholders created a media for stakeholders to hear what PLWHs have to say. The minister of health, Dr. Nelson Martins, who was present in the discussion, stressed in that it is important to listen and understand the presepectives of PLWHs to enable a better supporting environment for them.
The church mass was held at the Dili Cathedral Church, led by the General Secretary of the Dili Church Bishop, Fr. Apolinario Martins, supported by Esperansa Group.
The event was conducted with great contribution and participation of various stakeholders this year reflecting the spirit of leadership.
