The event was organized together with a local NGO, Sharis Haburas Communidade ( SHC)
As a part of the event CWS supported a one-day seminar for University students that organized by SHC as a local NGO and table tennis /sport program for students as a part of peace building project. The objective of this event to to raise awareness and increase community's involvement and commitment for issues related to HIV & AIDS in Timor Leste and in the world.
The event was opened by Fifi Adam from CWS Indonesia. "I feel very proud to commemorate CLM with all of you in Timor Leste. I hope this moment can challenge all of us to continue the effort to response against to HIV in Timor leste", she said. The representative from the MoH encouraged all participants to work together for an effort against the spread of HIV.
After lighting candles and giving the a pledge for commitment to support HIV responses, the participants heard a brief explanation from Daniel Marcal of CWS TL on the meaning of CLM and red ribbon. The event was then followed by refreshments and games.
At the end of the event, a religious figure, Sister Rita led a game by sewing various pieces cloths brought by the audiences which symbolized three things: With background and differences all stakeholders can work together in the commitment in responding to HIV and AIDS; HIV is an issue of everyone in the community; the strength that 'togetherness' has can support PLWH in life.
Before the event ended, Judith Kasperman from Holland, presented prizes to the table tennis competition winners.
